The Executive Office of the Mayor, Office of Returning Citizen Affairs and Veterans On the Rise announced the Welcome Back Veterans Mentoring Program. DCOA Executive Director John M. Thompson pledged his support for seniors who are veterans and those that have been involved with the criminal justice system.
The program helps criminally involved veterans by providing certified vocational skills training, job opportunities, rapid re-housing assignments, educational opportunities and a mentor for participants.

The next topic of discussion for the D.C. Caregivers Online Chat at Noon is "7 Communication Techniques for Talking to Elderly Parents." The chat will be held on Tuesday, August 5 at 12 p.m., visit www.dcoa.dc.gov to join the discussion.
The D.C. Caregivers Online Chat at Noon is designed to provide resources,
tips and other information to assist persons caring for older adults

The D.C. Office on Aging (DCOA) Ambassador Program is a FREE, interactive,
member-based program designed to reach out to older adults and their
caregivers to help them learn about the services and resources available
to them through DCOA. If you are interested in expanding your network
and educating older adults about the services and resources available to
them, join us for our next Ambassador Training Workshop to learn about
all of the programs and services that DCOA offers to the community and
how you can become an ambassador. All workshops include an overview of Office on Aging programs and
services, information on how to access resources, and guidance on your
role as an advocate.

The Developmental Disabilities Council (DDC) is a federally funded community program charged with identifying the most pressing needs of people with developmental disabilities in the District of Columbia. The DDC addresses these needs through systems change and capacity building efforts that promote self-determination, integration and inclusion for people with developmental disabilities.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2014 441 4th Street, NW City-Wide Conference Center Conference Room #1107 3 - 5 p.m.
The DDC Meeting is open to the general public. The meeting is metro accessible from the Judiciary Square Station on the Red line Metro station.
