Fall is here and so is the time to be grateful

with Newsletter Editor, Elizabeth Fischer Laurie

For many fall means everything pumpkin, warm sweaters, cozy fires, and a the start to the colder part of the year. It is also a time of year where many people focus on being grateful for the lives they have and the blessings they have been given. If you Google the phrase "the power of gratitude," you get a multitude of hits talking about the benefits of living your life in a thankful way, including getting sick less often, making progress toward personal goals, enjoying closer connections to those around you, and overall increase in feelings of joy and happiness.

I wasn't convinced of the power of gratitude until I started keeping a gratitude journal on the advice of my mentor.  Keeping that one-line-a-day journal pulled me through a particularly tough time in my professional life. To me it is amazing the impact such a small, daily action can have on your overall wellbeing.

I would encourage you to look at all you have to be grateful for this month. If you can, write down a grateful thought each day or each week. Even 15 minutes to do so once will have a huge impact. And we hope you include your membership and participation in YGL as part of that internal discussion.
