We hope everyone is having a wonderful summer! Can you believe it is already the middle of August? Summer is flying by, and it is almost time to transition the YGL-B Executive Board. Please read on for details about officer nominations!
YGL-Bethesda Officer Nominations (deadline 8/31)
We are currently seeking enthusiastic members committed to the mission of YGL-Bethesda and interested in serving in a leadership capacity on the Executive Board.
Each year, YGL-B holds officer elections to bring in new leaders to help grow the organization. There are currently four officer positions on the YGL-B Executive Board: President, Vice President, Communications Director, and Director of Programs and Events. President
The President provides leadership for the Executive Board by setting a strategic agenda to promote Chapter development and growth. He/she organizes regular meetings of the Executive Board, helps spearhead new initiatives, and liaises with YGL National and outside sponsors to build effective partnerships.
Vice President
The Vice President develops new strategies for growing the member base, liaises with potential members and maintains the membership roster, and provides quarterly updates on Chapter activities to YGL National.
Communications Director
The Communications Director publicizes YGL-B events and activities by sending regular newsletters to the member listserv, maintaining the organization’s website, and coordinating other print and electronic communications efforts, including social networking.
Director of Programs and Events
The Director of Programs and Events works with interested members to organize a variety of social events, professional development and networking activities, service opportunities, and other events.
Nomination Process
To nominate yourself, please send an email by August 31, 2013 to bethesda@younggov.org, stating the position(s)* you would like to run for, a brief biographical statement, with a few sentences on why you're running for the selected position(s). Or, to nominate someone else, please send an email to bethesda@younggov.org, providing the name and email address of the person you are nominating, and the position(s) you are nominating them for. Nominations will be accepted through August 31, and all members will have the opportunity to vote shortly thereafter on the nominees for all contested positions. *Note: Individuals may run for more than one position.
