Brooks candidate petition deemed insufficient
Denver – Today Secretary of State Scott Gessler announced that Jan Brooks, Libertarian candidate for the State Senate District 11 recall election, failed to collect enough valid signatures to qualify for the ballot.
On August 26, Brooks submitted 834 petition signatures to the Secretary of State. The Secretary of State’s office began an immediate line-by-line review of the signatures. As a minor party candidate, Brooks needed 575 valid signatures from registered voters within Senate District 11, which equals two percent of the votes cast in the most recent Senate District 11 election. Books collected 408 valid signatures.
