UPDATE: Armed Robbery in Sunshine Canyon
Second Suspect arrested
Boulder County, Colo.- On November 18, 2015, detectives with the Boulder County Sheriff’s
Office obtained an arrest warrant for 28 year-old Garrett Lee Mendes of
Loveland, the second suspect in the armed robbery of marijuana in Sunshine
Canyon on November 10. At approximately 2:25 pm. on November 18, a Greeley Police Officer
contacted Mendes for speeding in the city of Greeley. He was taken into custody
by Greeley Police on the warrant. He was turned over to detectives from the
Sheriff’s Office and taken to the Boulder County Jail where he was booked and
held on the warrant.
The warrant contained charges of second degree kidnapping, a class
2 felony, first degree burglary, aggravated robbery, and first degree assault,
all class 3 felonies; theft ($5,000-$20,000), and felony menacing both class 5
felonies; and criminal mischief a class 3 misdemeanor. Bail on the warrant was
set at $500,000.
The investigation into this incident is continuing and additional
arrests are anticipated.
Boulder County Sheriff’s Office detectives are actively
investigating this incident and pursuing leads. The case number for this
