Fallen climber found deceased
Boulder County, Colo.-- Today at approximately 1130 hours Boulder County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to the Gregory Canyon trailhead on a report of a climber that had fallen and was deceased. He was found by two hikers. Boulder Open Space Mountain Park Rangers, AMR Ambulance, Rocky Mountain Rescue and the Boulder County Coroner also responded.
The body of a 22 year old male was found below a rock formation known as the Fifth Pinnacle. He appeared to have fallen the previous day. He was climbing without any protective equipment and appeared to have fallen approximately 30 meters. He had told a friend yesterday he was going to the mountain park to climb and would be back in the evening. When he didn't return he was reported missing this morning and a search was just beginning when he was found by the hikers. The physical description does appear to match.
The Coroner's office may release his name after confirmation of his identity and notifying his next of kin.
The Boulder County Sheriff's Office case report number is 15-5575.
