This year San Diego Health Connect (SDHC), a Live Well San Diego
partner, welcomed the expanded participation of Scripps Health and Sharp
Healthcare into the health information exchange it coordinates. As a
result, more than one million San Diegans have been added to the network
that enables healthcare providers to quickly and securely share and
access patient records.

well-being is a developing technology focus area that can assist individuals in
maintaining a healthy lifestyle in every way. Smartphone apps can have an
impact on all aspects of life, changing the way we access information for
healthcare, the environment and public services:

Personal health apps can inspire positive behavioral or
lifestyle changes. Health apps that monitor fitness, nutrition and weight loss
can aid in tracking personal progress towards health goals to improve health
outcomes, benefiting life expectancy measure and quality of life measure.

Environmental apps can provide information on water, air
quality and beach closure notifications; and information about public parks,
benefiting the physical and built environment measures.

Apps that provide information on self-sufficiency programs
benefit vulnerable populations, positively impacting food insecurity and lack
of health insurance measures.
