Free local activities to kick-off the holiday season start tonight and will continue into the weekend.

Carmichael Park will be the location for the community’s annual tree lighting ceremony tonight, December 5. The park is located on Fair Oaks Boulevard near Grant Avenue.  This year the fun is being combined with the park district’s monthly food truck event.  The activities will begin at 5 pm and continue until 8 pm.  The River City Concert Band will be performing 5:30-7pm and the official holiday countdown leading to the tree lighting will commence at 6:30 pm. The Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce presents the annual “Christmas in the Village,” this coming Saturday, December 7.  There will be plenty of old fashioned holiday fun in Fair Oaks Village that day starting at 10 am which includes a visit by Santa, shopping, music, and a parade (starting at 4:30 pm) plus caroling and lighting of the tree (5:30 pm).  For details on times and activities, please visit the chamber’s website. 

And the Fulton Avenue Association also will be holding a tree lighting ceremony in Arden-Arcade on Saturday, December 7.  This event will occur in the parking lot of Tognotti’s Auto World at the corner of El Camino and Fulton Avenues.  The event is open to the public with the family fun starting at 5 pm to 6:30 pm.  For more information call the Fulton Avenue Association at 978-1288.
