City of Riverside, California Ward 6 Update

Jim Perry
City Council Member - Ward 6

A Message From Your Council Member…

‘Hats off’ to the Ward 6 Residents who have embraced the 311 system by using it devotedly to report issues in our community. We are averaging over 900 reports per month in Ward 6. The City of Riverside offers a free smart phone application (311 Riverside App) to report problems. When you see potholes, graffiti or other problems, open the application, take a photo with your phone, select the type of issue and send. The photo along with the address via GPS and date/time stamp goes to the City's 311 Call Center and generates a service request. I encourage you to download the ‘311 Riverside App’ or to continue calling 951-826-5311 to support the enhancement of preserving of our neighborhoods.

Homeless Update

The City of Riverside has taken a pro-active approach to addressing homelessness in our community and so has Ward 6. We have visited businesses to educate business owners on panhandling issues, we have requested that several “End Homeless” posters be placed around our ward, we have installed “No Solicitation” signs on busy intersections and we send our Homeless Outreach Team out to targeted areas. Our efforts are by no means complete, but we are aware of the seriousness of controlling the circumstances. The City does provide a centralized environment to provide short-term emergency shelter coupled with a range of complimentary supportive services necessary to assist homeless individuals and families to address their issues and achieve housing stability. Please encourage homeless individuals to use these services and deter from supporting panhandling.

The pictures below demonstrate a successful collaborate effort removing a homeless encampment previously located in Ward 6. Thank you to our Homeless Outreach Team, Code Enforcement, Riverside Police Department, the City Attorney’s Office, General Services and various city staff for helping local businesses keep their property free of transients.
