A Message From Your Council Member…
Thank you to all the Ward 6 residents for making my first few months in office feel very welcoming. We have hosted and attended several events in the last few weeks that have been very well attended and beneficial for the future of our community. I plan to continue reaching out to our local neighborhoods to get feedback on the essential needs and wants for Ward 6. Below is some information of a few things taking place in Ward 6 and in the City of Riverside.
College and Career Fair
College bound students and parents mark your calendars for the 9th Annual Riverside College & Career Fair. This year’s fair will be taking place on October 2nd in the Galleria at Tyler from 5-8pm. A few reasons to attend:
Riverside School of the Arts
The Riverside School of the Arts will be launching a beginning ballet class at Arlanza Community Center thanks to the generous volunteers from the California Riverside Ballet. Classes begin Friday, October 11th from 3:30-4:30pm. Mandatory parent meeting scheduled at Bryant Park on October 4th at 3:30pm. Contact City of Riverside- Parks, Recreation and Community Services at 951-826-2000 for more information.
Community Health Fairs
The Riverside Community Health Foundation along with Borrego Health invites you to join them for their Annual Community Health Fair on October 5th from 11am-3pm at Bryant Park. Community information booths will include topics such as health coverage, mental health, higher education, senior support services and family guidance counseling. In addition to free health screenings there will be children activities and entertainment. For more information click here.
Sierra Memorial Chapel Mortuary presents a Free Community Health Fair on October 26th from 10am-3pm. Services include cholesterol screening, flu shots, child fingerprinting/I.D. kit and blood drive. Stop by for a free health screening, hot dogs, snacks, sodas and giveaways by vendors. For more information call 951-687-0551.
City Financing Portal
The City of Riverside welcomes its new Financial Transparency Data Portal! This new online tool allows you to view our city budget more conveniently. The transparency portal allows you to explore the budget in a simple graphical user interface. This is far easier than pouring through a several hundred-page budget document to find the information you want about the city's finances. Take a few minutes to explore the site here.
Attention Business Owners
Local businesses may qualify for new tax credits or incentives in the upcoming year. Become aware of state policies approved to encourage economic growth and development. Take a look at the California Incentive criteria below:
Keep Riverside Clean & Beautiful
On behalf of Riverside’s Ward 6 residents, I would like to thank the La Sierra University Ignite Group for volunteering and committing to Keep Riverside Clean & Beautiful.
“(KRCB) is a community program sponsored by the City of Riverside and the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce (GRCC). Since 1992 KRCB has provided hands-on stewardship with litter prevention, graffiti eradication and tree planting projects year round.
While in partnership with local government and private business, we remain strong year round, building a sense of community pride with 24,000 volunteer hours organizing community beautification projects within the City of Riverside.”For more information on KRC&B or to volunteer for future events, please click here.
