City of Riverside, California Ward 1 Update

Greetings:
I am sure you are all familiar with the West Nile Virus and the serious threat it may pose to our health.  Since Riverside voters recently voted to annex into the Northwest Mosquito Abatement and Vector Control District we are able to now receive the following benefit of services (which the City would not have been otherwise able to do) due to West Nile virus activity detected in several mosquito traps.  The District will be fogging for adult mosquitos on September 13th, 2013 between the hours of 3:00 am to 5:00 am at the following locations: Reid Park and the residential neighborhood located between Orange St., W. Center St., and the 91 Fwy. See map here: http://riversideca.gov/council/images/ward1/2013-09-12-mosquito-fogging-area.png.

The District will be treating these areas with a proven and safe insecticide called Aqua-Reslin (EPA Reg # 432-796), which is approved for use in mosquito control by the U.S. EPA.  The District has been working hard to use Integrated Pest Management Practices in these areas, however due to West Nile positive mosquitoes their lab has detected in traps they have decided that adult mosquito control via truck mounted ground fogging is the best means to control the mosquito populations in these areas.  They will be posting signs in the areas that will be sprayed to inform the public.  If there are any questions or concerns please contact the District at 951-340-9792.
