Halloween Safety
Tips:
Halloween is right around the corner! Below are some
great safety tips from http://www.safekids.org/tip/halloween-safety-tips
so we can all have a safe and enjoyable Halloween!
•Trick-or-Treat with an adult.
•If kids are mature enough to go on their own
make sure they’re walking in groups and in familiar and well lit areas.
•Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape,
stickers, or glow sticks to help them be seen by drivers.
• ALWAYS
walk on sidewalks or paths. If there are no sidewalks, walk facing traffic as
far to the left as possible.
•Look
left and right when crossing.
•Put
electronic devices down or away when crossing and pay attention to your
surroundings.
•Watch
for cars that are turning or backing up.
Drivers:
•Please be mindful of children and families out
trick or treating.
•Enter and exit driveways slowly and carefully.
•Take extra time to look for kids on
intersections, medians, and curbs.
•Eliminate distractions inside your car so you
can concentrate on the road.

Bulky Items:
In an effort to keep Riverside beautiful and clean,
residents can do their part by discarding clutter in their property. A bulky
item appointment can be made for items larger than your regular trash. On the
day of your appointment make sure your items are curbside by 5:30 a.m. and
ensure items are no larger than 8 foot length, 4 foot width, and 4 foot height
combined. Please call ahead of time as appointments cannot be made on the same
day. To schedule a pick-up, call City of Riverside at (951) 826-5311 or Burrtec
Services at (951) 786-0693.
The table below list acceptable items during the free
curbside pickup services.
For additional items that may not qualify for a pick up
appointment, Clean Up Riverside’s Environment (C.U.R.E) offers drop off events throughout
the year. Please see the scheduled events listed on the flyer.

Visible
Address Numbers:
I want to take this opportunity to emphasize
the need for visible address numbers on homes and businesses. It was brought to
my attention that many of our businesses lack noticeable address numbers on their
building and the same goes to many homes.
Visible address numbers are a matter of public
safety. Without noticeable addresses, our first responders have a difficult
time locating the home or business in the event of an emergency. For
businesses, it may be a disadvantage to their commerce if shoppers cannot
locate the facility.
Seizing our
Destiny Survey:
Just a reminder, you have until October 31, 2015 to
participate in the City of Riverside’s Seizing Our Destiny Survey! Be a part of
the conversation at seizingourdestiny.com/survey and share your opinion
regarding the quality of life in Riverside.
Riverside
Neighborhood Partnership:
In an effort to assist the mission of supporting the formation of
local neighborhood organizations throughout the city, Riverside Neighborhood
Partnership is looking for advocates in Ward 7 to join the RNP leadership team.
If you are interested please contact them at 1RNPinfo@gmail.com.
