City Council Member - Ward 6

A Message From Your Council Member…

Congratulations to all the students who will be graduating and promoting in the upcoming days. Thank you to all the parents and family members that have supported them throughout their educational journey. We commend the hard work dedicated to furthering our children’s education.

As summer approaches, the City of Riverside’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department will continue to provide its annual Free F.E.E.D.S. Program throughout the summer. This meal program is provided through a California Department of Education Nutrition Services Grant to serve children under the age of 18. This year’s locations on the west-side include:

  • Alvord High School (3606 Pierce Street)
  • Bryant Park (7950 Philbin Street)
  • Hunt Park (4015 Jackson Street)
  • Orrenmaa Elementary School (3350 Fillmore Street)
  • La Sierra Park (5215 La Sierra Avenue)

Browse through our Riverside Activity Guide and keep your children active by signing them up for an activity this summer. The O.K.A.Y! Scholarship Program has waivers available for underprivileged children who wish to participate in youth activities, but are not able due to financial hardship. Visit your local community center for more information.

Buzz on Tyler

Have you driven on Tyler lately? There are quite a few projects in progress. First, on the Target pad (across the street from Galleria at Tyler) construction is in the initial stages for a Panera Bread, Habit Burger and ULTA Cosmetics. Further down on Tyler Street between Hole Avenue & Wells Avenue, we are gearing up for the street widening. A few buildings have been demolished (with previous owners consent & support) to begin the Tyler Street Widening Project. Watch for more details on all of these projects in my upcoming newsletters.
