We are proud to partner with DDF, the Deputy Sheriff's Activities League (DSAL), and the Alameda County Sheriff's Office (ACSO) in launching the DDF Food Hub. This facility will support ALL IN's Food as Medicine goals to provide families with access to healthy food and nutrition as a part of medical care.
The DDF Food Hub is a 3,300-square-foot community-based food aggregation, distribution, and small business incubation center designed to get healthy food onto the plates of food-insecure residents. DDF Food Hub services will include a food recovery program, a small business incubator, a farm-to-fork initiative, and a commercial kitchen. If your business could benefit from the DDF Food Hub's commercial kitchen, please fill out the rental interest form.
Food Recovery Update
In October 2019, ALL IN and its partners - DSAL and StopWaste began trial runs for the food recovery program, which will be launching early next year. We are proud to share that over 8500 pounds - the size of a killer whale - of local fresh vegetables, meat, and dairy products have been collected from the Urban Village Farmers Market and Livermore Unified School District Warehouse so far!
|
These food donations were distributed to over 570 residents at 5 affordable housing buildings: SAHA (Satellite Affordable Housing Associates), Mercy Housing, and EBALDC (East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation) properties. In addition to these donations, ALL IN and DSAL are gathering residents' feedback to guide our work as we scale food recovery county-wide.
|
The majority of the residents we have served so far responded positively to our food recovery pilot. One recipient commented, “[The food recovery delivery was] Very helpful. I am disabled and ill and cannot always get to the store.” We will continue soliciting feedback from the program participants as we prepare for the full launch in 2020.
If your organization is able to receive donated food and distribute it to low-income residents in Alameda County, ALL IN invites you to fill out the Food Recovery Project Intake Form to see if we can meet your needs.

Tri-Valley Anti-Poverty Collaborative Forum on Housing and Homelessness
On October 24, 2019, the Tri-Valley Anti-Poverty Collaborative (TVAPC) hosted its third community convening at Hub 925 in Pleasanton. Approximately 80 Tri-Valley residents and individuals representing county and city government, local non-profits, the faith community, school districts, and other groups attended the breakfast event. Speakers included Gloria Bruce, Executive Director of East Bay Housing Organizations and David Garcia, Director of Policy at UC Berkeley Terner Center for Housing Innovation. Both speakers discussed the challenges of meeting the Tri-Valley’s housing needs due to the lack of housing stock affordable for low and middle-income earners, policy challenges and recent wins, and ways for everyone in the community to get involved in solutions that involve protecting current tenants, producing new homes of all types that are affordable, and preserving affordable housing. Event sponsors included Hub 925, Kaiser Permanente, Hacienda Helping Hands, and Supervisor Scott Haggerty.
TVAPC is a multi-sector collaborative addressing issues related to housing, health, education, and food access. Find TVAPC on the web at www.tvapc.org, on Facebook and Twitter. TVAPC membership is open to the general public.
