On Tuesday, September 6, 2022, roadway improvements are scheduled to begin on Cushing Street, from Granada Avenue to Stone Avenue, as part of the Proposition 101 - Tucson Delivers Better Streets program.
- On Monday, September 12, the westbound travel lane is scheduled to close for about 3 weeks to allow crews to mill (remove) the old asphalt, prep the subgrade and repave the roadway.
While crews are working on the north side of the roadway, only eastbound travel will be permitted within these limits. Southbound travel on Church Avenue will not be permitted onto Cushing Street and can use eastbound Broadway, Jackson Street or McCormick Street to access Stone Avenue.
Following work on the north side of the roadway, crews will shift to the south side of Cushing Street to mill and repave the roadway for about three weeks. During this work, only westbound travel will be permitted between Stone Avenue and Granada Avenue. When eastbound Cushing Street is closed, there will be no access to Cushing Street from northbound El Paso Avenue, Main Avenue, Meyer Avenue and Convent Avenue.
This project is scheduled to be complete by early November 2022. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances. Electronic message boards are in place to alert motorists of this upcoming work.
Tucson Delivers Better Streets is a $100 million improvement program made possible by Tucson voters who approved a half-cent sales tax increase in May 2017. Thank you in advance for your cooperation as we work to improve the quality and safety of your City streets.
