ETIQUETTE PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS

“Etiquette is the key to your child’s success”

The training for a child’s successful future life begins early. Polite, well-mannered children get along better with their peers, as well as their parents and teachers. We can’t assume that children will just “pick up” good manners and social skills. The rules of etiquette must actively be taught.  It’s All About Etiquette is dedicated to developing excellent social skills in children of all ages by building solid foundations for learning and using proper etiquette, good manners and kind and considerate behavior toward others. “Start your child on the right path to a successful future!”

For information on our etiquette programs please visit our website www.itsallaboutetiquette.com or we invite you to organize your own group, and we will come to you, please contact

SueAnn Brown at 480 510-6346.

Nonnative Turtle Trapping at The Phoenix Zoo

For the sixth year in a row, our Homeschool program is able to participate in the annual nonnative turtle trapping at the Phoenix Zoo. Many of you have helped out in the past and know it’s an exciting and interesting opportunity to get hands-on experience performing wildlife management and public outreach.  This year, we will be participating on Friday, May 16.  For those of you who have not helped out with this event, here’s what we are doing and why:

Every year, it is estimated that hundreds of unwanted pet turtles are released into the “moat” in front of the zoo.  This population of turtles undergoes annual trapping efforts to reduce their chances of traveling to nearby canals and the Salt River where they could out-compete with, spread disease to, or prey on native turtles and other native aquatic wildlife.  During the trapping, all captured turtles are measured, weighed, identified to species and sex, and uniquely marked.  Female nonnative turtles are removed from the pond and placed with the Phoenix Herpetological Society. Native turtles and male nonnative turtles are returned to the pond.

We’re looking for help providing outreach to the public on why releasing pet turtles could be harmful.

For more information and to register, visit http://www.azgfd.gov/homeschool and click on the registration link found under "Special Events." Complete and submit the form. If registration has closed, the link will be removed. We do anticipate the program filling up before this weekend!
